A clich has entered the lexicon – “If you build it, they will come.”

That’s not true, and has never been true – least of all for podcasts. You have to build a site that archives your podcasts, true, but people aren’t going to come unless you get the word out about the podcasts, and they aren’t going to come back unless you have interesting content.Additional information can be found at http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/podcasting-for-business-what-you-need-to-know/. Interesting themes.

There are two types of podcasts – those that range far and wide in their themes and depend upon the personality of the presenter to draw in listeners/viewers. The other type of podcast is one devoted to a specific subject – history of the American Civil War, history of World War II, reviews of plays on Broadway or at some local community theatre, and so on.

To make “the most interesting podcasts out there,” approach this goal with professionalism.

Podcasters should always work from a script. And this script doesn’t consist of just a few words thrown together – they have to be crafted. Know the subject you’re talking about thoroughly, so that when you actually get on mic or camera, you can extemporize based on that solid knowledge. But the knowledge has to come first.

Always check your facts. Many people do very cursory research, and accept what other folks tell them is true, without doing research themselves. The easiest example of this is movie quotes. Bogie, in Casablanca, never said, “Play it again, Sam.” (You might say, “It’s just a quote from a movie. Who cares if it’s not right?” Well, because accuracy is vital, and your viewers or listeners have a right to expect what you say to be correct. Because they will then start quoting using you as an authoritative source – don’t let them down.)

You must have enthusiasm for your subject. Any subject can be made interesting if you present it the right way. If it’s a subject many folks might consider dullgo outside the box. Share more than the “who, what, when, where and why.” Share the aftermath also.

But above all, enthusiasm.

How to make the most interesting podcasts for listeners can be a fun proposition as there are no formulas for the perfect podcast. The biggest problem is finding a topic that people will listen to and that you like. The topic and the host must be intrinsically linked; it does not need to be a topic you know a lot about, but it must be one that you feel passionately about. You must be willing to make the topic part of who are, at least while doing the podcast. Your audience can tell if you aren’t into it, and that lack of feeling will kill your show faster than anything else.

Past that, there are a number of options to make a podcast more interesting. Have a tagline; it does not matter how cheesy it or classic it is, as it is there just to signal to your audience that the show has begun. Also, never doubt the advantages of podcast-safe music; it is free for podcasts and can really spice up long shows. A co-host can also help add a little variety, especially if that person changes every week. There are a number of ways to make a podcast more interesting, but remember that the most interesting one of all is one you are passionate about. The hits keep comin’: BBM Music, new OS 7 devices, and more during guest appearance on CrackBerry Podcast 075

Everyday there are people who looking for some of the best podcasts to listen to. What exactly do people want to listen to? Though it may be common sense that people want to be entertained, but entertainment is such a relative term. What might be entertaining to one, can be boring and dull to another. So what else should people talk about during their podcasts? One of the few things that we tend to hear these days are podcasts that try to teach people something. We are so consumed with news and entertainment that we forget that we actually need to learn. Additional information can be found at http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/02/with-a-q-the-joystiq-game-show-002-la-li-lu-le-lol/.

What Can We Learn?

Though it may seem boring to listen to a podcast just to learn, there are various ways to achieve this. By implementing a game show type of atmosphere, they can learn, teach and entertain at the same time. People have forgotten about game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune that would always try to teach the audience something. If we can start to hear a podcast that will spread knowledge and at the same time entertain the audience, I am sure that the podcast would get millions of hits. Who will be the first one to do it?

Once you have chosen a topic for your podcasts, the next step is coming up with content for each podcast as well as having enough content to keep it going. Get in the habit of carrying a mini notebook or voice recorder on you at all times. Make sure to write your ideas down or record the idea on a voice recorder so you won-t forget it. As you are going through your daily life routines keep an eye out for things that would fit into your pod cast. Additional information can be found at http://overnightcelebradio.com/2011/08/31/listen-to-the-overnightcelebrity-radio-podcasts-feat-intentfabizness-in-the-first-podcast-then-amoneymuzic-in-the-2nd-podcast-o_n_celeb_radio/. Ideas can come from conversations you had that day, something taken from the news on TV, or could be something you heard on the radio.

Another great way to get content for your podcast is through your listeners. Have them send you questions via email and then answer those questions in your pod cast. If you wrote a question to someone about the topic you are podcasting about, use that person-s answer as content and talk about it.

Spend some time reading a book on your topic or reading websites on your topic. In spending ten minutes a day you can find information for topics and content you want to touch on in your next podcast.
